Dr. Jose A. Espinoza is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology within the industrial-organizational psychology area. Jose's primary research centres on the proposition that humans have basic psychological needs that, when fulfilled, have positive implications for well-being and lead to more intrinsic forms of motivation. In his work, Jose proposes that this may be a "win-win" for how to approach the workplace, fostering greater effort to advance organizational objectives and helping employees to experience work as a positive influence in their lives. In a second stream, Jose applies person-centred analytic techniques to uncover new insights in well-established areas of workplace research. Most recently, this research involves a project examining the robustness of unique combinations of personality traits ("profiles") and their utility at work.
