MAJOR IN PSYCHOLOGY – 4-YEAR BA
6.0 Course Module CHECKLIST
Purpose of Major Module: To provide a thorough grounding in the principles of Psychology for students who are interested in a career in fields such as business, education, law, the health sciences, social work, and other related disciplines.

Requirements
FIRST YEAR Requirements: To be eligible for admission to the Major Program, students must complete 3.0 first-year courses, including 1.0 course from Psychology 1000 (or the former 1200) with a final grade of at least 60% and 1.0 course in Mathematics from the following list: Calculus 1000A/B, 1100A/B, 1301A/B, 1500A/B, 1501A/B, or the former 1201A/B, the former Linear Algebra 1600A/B, Mathematics 0110A/B, 1225A/B, 1228A/B, 1229A/B, 1600A/B, Applied Mathematics 1201A/B, Statistical Sciences 1024A/B. If Mathematics 0110A/B is selected, then either Statistical Sciences 1024A/B or Mathematics 1228A/B must be taken. Mathematics 1228A/B and Statistical Sciences 1024A/B is the recommended combination.
NOTE: The Math credit must be completed prior to taking Psych 2820E (or Psych 2810).		 YEAR 1

SECOND, THIRD and FOURTH YEAR: Module Requirements
1.0 course in Psychology 2820E (must be taken prior to all 3000 level courses)
0.5 course in Psychology numbered 2100-2299.
0.5 course in Psychology numbered 2300-2799.
1.0 course in Psychology numbered 2000-2999.
0.5 course in Psychology numbered 3100-3299.
0.5 course in Psychology numbered 3300-3799.
1.0 course in Psychology numbered 2100-2999.
0.5 course in Psychology numbered 3100-3999.
0.5 course in Psychology numbered 3100-4999.

CAUTION:  If you are taking a 2nd year or higher level statistics course taught in another department that is antirequisite to Psychology 2820E Research Methods and Statistical Analysis in Psychology (for example, one of Bio 2244A/B, MOS 2242A/B, Soc 2205A/B, Stats 2035, Stats 2244A/B) then instead of taking the 1.0 credit Psychology 2820E, you must take only the 1.0 Psychology 2800E (Research Methods in Psychology).  Do NOT take both Psychology 2820E and Psychology 2800E, nor both of Psychology 2820E and a 2nd year statistics course from another department.  You will still be allowed to use your Psych 2800E with the 2nd year stats course from the other department in place of the Psych 2820E prerequisite listed in the 3000+ level Psychology courses.  If you require further clarification of this note, please make an appointment with the Psychology Academic Advisor by calling 519-661-2067 for either an in-person or over-the-phone appointment, or send an e-mail to psycouns@uwo.ca requesting clarification.  The Psychology Major requires 6.0 Psychology credits at the 2nd year and above level. 

Subsidiary Courses: 9.0 other courses. If you are also doing a module in another subject area, then that module’s courses would be amongst these 9.0 courses. Depending on which other module you plan on completing, you may be able to take additional Psychology courses outside of the 6.0 minimum required by the Psychology Major Module. See second “Note” below.

Progression Requirements: student must maintain a minimum cumulative average of 60% among the Psychology Major Module courses.

You are responsible for the accuracy and completeness of your program.

NOTE: Students who initially major in Psychology but wish to apply to the Honors Specialization should select Psychology 2810 and 2800E in place of Psychology 2820E. (Note: Psychology 2800E will count as a course numbered 2100-2999 in the event a student is not accepted into one of the Honors Spec. Modules).

NOTE: No more than 14.0 courses in one subject may be counted among the 20.0 successfully completed courses used to fulfill graduation requirements. If taking more than 7.0 courses in Psychology (including the first year Psych 1000), students need to consider any impact this may have on their plans for completing a module in another subject area.

NOTE: Students who complete two Major modules with a 70% average in each, and with no mark below 60% in either module plus no mark below 50% in the non-Major optional or subsidiary courses may be eligible for an Honors Double Major Bachelor degree.
