Clinical interests: FVB Psychologists provides assessment and treatment for a broad range of psychological concerns, including anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, PTSD, grief and loss, trauma, relationship difficulties, and work-related difficulties. The practice also conducts comprehensive psychological assessments, including psycho-diagnostic assessments for most disorders outlined in the DSM-5, as well as cognitive assessments such as ADHD and intellectual functioning. Additional clinical areas include substance use disorders, bipolar disorders, and personality disorders.
Topics for workshops, seminars: Workshops and seminars may include topics such as grief and loss, trauma and trauma-informed care, and multicultural and diversity-related issues in clinical practice.
Type of clinical practica: Adult individual counseling in an outpatient private practice setting.
Types of clients: While FVB Psychologists serves a wide range of client populations, for practicum purposes supervision will focus on adult clients (18+). Supervisors are predominantly trained in individual adult psychotherapy. Practicum training will not include work with children, adolescents, couples, or families.
Modality: Supervisors at FVB Psychologists utilize a broad range of evidence-based and integrative modalities, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Prolonged Exposure, Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), psychodynamic therapy, narrative therapy, Gestalt therapy, and integrative/eclectic approaches.
Theoretical orientation: Integrative and eclectic, drawing from multiple evidence-based theoretical orientations tailored to client needs.
Types of client problems: Presenting concerns commonly include anxiety, depression, trauma-related difficulties, PTSD, grief and loss, relationship concerns, occupational stress, substance use issues, bipolar disorders, and personality-related difficulties.
Type of supervision you can provide: Doctoral-level practicum supervision in adult individual psychotherapy and assessment, with a focus on case conceptualization, treatment planning, ethical practice, professional development, and reflective clinical practice.

Research interests: FVB Psychologists is a private practice and is not currently engaged in active research. However, members of the practice have a strong history of research involvement. Dr. Stephen Fleming (Professor Emiritus – York University) is well recognized for his contributions to the fields of grief, trauma, death, and dying. Dr. Shafik Sunderani (Lecturer at University of Toronto and University of Guelph-Humber) has been involved in research related to mate poaching, interpersonal dynamics, countertransference, multicultural counselling, traditional healing practices, infidelity, and social hierarchies.
Available to supervise: Up to two doctoral-level practicum students.
Constraints: The practicum does not include group therapy, work with children, or treatment of anorexia nervosa.
