Profile

Dr. Evans arrived at the Department of Psychology in 2020 as an Assistant Professor within the industrial and organizational unit. With academic training focused on social influences in physical activity contexts, his passion for applying psychological principles into real-life settings has led him to explore all sorts of interesting settings where people depend on one another – including student clubs, disability sport organizations, ad hoc medical teams, and youth programs. He leads the interdependence and influence in groups lab alongside several graduate student members and undergraduate thesis students. Dr. Evans teaches introductory courses in applied psychology and organizational psychology, along with graduate level courses in systematic review methods and health/wellbeing promotion in organizations. His academic pathway includes training at Laurentian University (Human Kinetics), the University of Lethbridge (Kinesiology and Physical Education), and Wilfrid Laurier University (Social Psychology). His previous academic work experience was as an Assistant Professor at Pennsylvania State University and as a postdoctoral fellow at Queen’s University.
